Sophia graduated from Salford Uni with a BA in Graphic design. With 1940's pin ups, burlesque, dolls an the alternative as her inspiration, Sophia's work fuses elements from these passions to create a beautiful, yet slightly messed up performance persona.
Between the demands of her burlesque career - with past performances throughout England and as far reaching as LA's renowned Sunset Strip - DeeDee also indulges her love for all things creative; from illustration to photography, to her independent textile and fashion label; Chickadeedee.
The work exhibited portrays the idea of 'striving for perfection'. Inspired by Snow White's wicked stepmother and her plight to be 'the fairest of them all', the story is given a contemporary twist. Expect to see the Snow White ideal replaced by an unattainable perfection which we see conveyed in today's airbrushed mass-media imagery.
